PROTEO-ULaval is proud to support iGem with $2,500.
iGEM (International Genetically Engineered Machine) is an international synthetic biology competition held annually in Paris. Participating teams must design biological systems by combining genetics and engineering to solve a current problem.
Université Laval's iGEM team has continued a tradition of excellence since its inception in 2018, having won several prestigious awards in the past. For the 2025 edition, their project aims to develop an alternative solution to combat antibiotic-resistant bacteria, a growing global challenge. The team will use the Trojan horse approach, hijacking a bacterial proliferation mechanism to their advantage, in order to counter antibiotic resistance. Their project will help improve the quality of treatment and have a positive impact on the national health and medical field.
Thanks to this financial support, PROTEO-ULaval is a collaborator of the team. We wish them good luck!
