PROTEO-ULaval Undergraduate Research Excellence Scholarships

We will award four (4) scholarships of $2,000 for the Fall term. The competition criteria are as follows:

• One scholarship awarded per laboratory per fiscal year.
• A student may not receive a PROTEO-ULaval Undergraduate Research Excellence Scholarship more than once.

The competition is open until Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at 11:59 PM.

Interested applicants must send the following documents in one (1) single PDF file to coordination@proteo.ulaval.ca:

• A CV
• The completed application form

Successful applicants will be contacted during the second week of October. PROTEO-ULaval will award a maximum of four (4) scholarships of $2,000. If funds remain available after this date, scholarships will be awarded on a rolling basis as eligible applications are received. Please note that a second competition will be launched in Winter 2027, during which an additional four (4) scholarships of $2,000 will be awarded.

The awarded amount will be used exclusively to reimburse the principal investigator for compensation paid to the student (either as a scholarship or salary), up to a maximum of $2,000.

Clarification regarding the $2,000 amount for undergraduate student scholarships:
The $2,000 amount announced as a "scholarship" is a reimbursement provided to the supervisor or department, not a direct payment to the student. This reimbursement covers compensation paid to the student, whether in the form of salary (including benefits) or a scholarship, up to a maximum of $2,000. This approach accommodates various administrative situations, as some students are not eligible to receive scholarships because of their status or course registration. To determine whether compensation should be provided as a scholarship or salary, supervisors should consult the appropriate advisor in their department.

Graduate Studies Scholarships

We will award two (2) scholarships of $4,000:

• One scholarship for a student in the first year of a Master's program.
• One scholarship for a student in the first year of a Doctoral program.

Only students in the first year of their current level of study are eligible to apply, meaning students who first enrolled in Winter 2026, Summer 2026, or Fall 2026.

Students co-supervised by PROTEO-ULaval members will be given preference during the evaluation process. All other PROTEO Network criteria will be applied to determine eligibility and assess applications.

• A motivation letter of no more than one (1) page, clearly indicating whether the student is co-supervised
• An academic transcript

Results will be communicated before the end of September so that the awards can be included in recipients' files for upcoming scholarship competitions.

Conference Travel Awards for Research Professionals (RPs)

(PROTEO Network Competition) (November 1, 2026)

We are pleased to launch a funding competition designed to support PROTEO research professionals in attending conferences.

Please consult the application form and competition guidelines.

PROTEO-ULaval will provide four (4) travel awards of up to $2,000 each.

The application deadline is November 1, 2026. Applications must be submitted by email as a single PDF file to proteo@uqam.ca. Applicants who are not members of the PROTEO Network should send their application directly to coordination@proteo.ulaval.ca.

The conference must take place between December 1, 2026, and November 30, 2027.

Applicants must obtain approval from their supervisor, who must be a regular member of PROTEO and agree to cover any additional conference-related expenses, if applicable.
